The first session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other and begin building a foundation of safety and trust. We’ll explore what’s bringing you to therapy, what you’re hoping for, and any questions or concerns you may have about the process. We’ll also begin exploring how creative expression may support your healing journey, if that feels relevant for you. This can include discussing how art therapy works and how creative practices might help deepen self-understanding, emotional processing, and insight. There is no pressure to share everything right away or engage creatively before you’re ready. We move at a pace that feels safe, collaborative, and supportive of your unique process.
Art therapy is a form of psychotherapy that uses creative expression as a tool for healing, self-discovery, and emotional processing. It combines traditional therapeutic conversation with art-making to help access thoughts, feelings, and experiences that can sometimes be difficult to express through words alone.Art therapy can support insight, emotional regulation, trauma processing, and deeper self-understanding. The creative process often helps bring awareness to patterns, emotions, and inner experiences in a way that feels more intuitive and accessible.
